Running, Recognition & RnR HM (crazy hair day)

Wonderful Wednesday.

A sensational last few weeks with the running community at Troon 10k and within the club @ Ron’s Runners. A few achievements over the last few weeks, beginning with the clubs ‘Ultra Dafties’ and well done Sylvia, Neil and David running the Highland Fling 53 mile Ultra Trail Race.

A great achievement by all πŸ‘

Going back a few weeks now and a 5 mile training run I done at a steady pace around a familiar route on a cracking sunny day. Maintaining a 7:50 min pace was good as the route climbed a steady incline during the second half of the run.

This kept the legs loose and worked the heart rate prior to attending the Troon 10k race, a fantastic run starting along the beach front and round Lochgreen golf course. Was a perfect evening for the event, which saw over 2,000 runners line up.

My plan was to start at a relatively relaxed pace and see how the race develops, due to the tough windy conditions on the final few K’s back along the promenade to the finish. This was executed perfect and due to still recovering from a series of niggles I sustained the urge to push forward.

Having managed to catch up with a few of my fellow club runners, was great to push on, feeling good and complete the course just 1 min behind last year’s time!

Afterwards was good chatting to everyone, before thoughts turned to heading home and dinner. Before hand was the small matter of the race presentation and congratulate the winners who all posted a phenomenal time with a few PB’s broken.

Much to my surprise was the announcement of the presentation to a local runner who has overcame adversity, reached personal achievement and continues to inspire through running – especially when my name got called out.

Completely blown away to receive the Scottish Building Society Community Cup for 2018. A massive thank you to all who contributed and continue to keep moving forward and smash those goals, however small and trivial…well done. πŸ‘

Onto the weekend and once again it was Eglinton ParkRun 5k for a well deserved leg stretch. Great to see the local event growing in numbers and a few of my club mates performing really well.

As with every Sunday the club meets for a longer run and can be utilised to accommodate all distances and abilities. We had a few guys running 10 miles, both steady state and even a few ran the distance as a tempo training session.

For me this was a training run prior to the HM so just short of 8 miles covered but achieved a target time of 1:10.

So, HM I hear you say? Yip Liverpool Rock and Roll Half Marathon next weekend. Will be there running and supporting Mark and Neil who are about to conquer their first marathon, mmm Beer ticket 🍻

On a funnier note, was time to decide what the outcome was going to be with the latest hair style…and yeah the stylist won!

Have a great few days and weekend ahead all. A significant tune this week, Fantastic Day 🎼

If your training, competing or supporting, have fun and enjoy. πŸ˜€
